December Board Meeting

  • The Town has approved us to build dugouts on the fields that don't currently have them, pending final approvals by John Dyke.  Quotes are pending.  We will look for sponsors to help offset the costs of these.
  • Fields Upgrades: Fields are 2-4 inches low.  Fill will need to be trucked in while the grounds are frozen to minimize damage to the fields and pedestrian traffic.
  • Field Signs: The Town approved adding signs to each field that give the #.  This will make the park easier to navigate for people who don't know which Divisions play on each field.
  • Field walk-through with Rich Arndt, D1 Administrator, was held on 12/2.  Items noted include minor repairs, benches, latches, paint, etc.
  • Tractor:As of 11/13, Claussens suspected a blown head gasket.  However, that repair was done and the tractor is still leaking oil.  They will continue to investigate.
  • Challenger Division: Jeremy Rayner has volunteered to lead the Division.  Equipment needed includes safety softballs (11" and 12") and a beeping ball.  Rich Arndt will be gifting us a beeping ball.  $250 Thrivent money will be used for advertising of this Division and for balls.  Sara will forward information to Kate to forward to Jodi Gibbons, Life Skills Teacher at KVMS, to distribute to families of her students for potential players in this division.
  • Clinic will be held 12/29 for Softball at Covenant's gym.  Clinic will utilize another $250 of Thrivent money.
  • Treasurer's Report:Tentative plan is to have All-Star players sell raffle tickets for a Closing Day drawing, with each player selling $100 worth of tickets to fund the All-Stars program. A "Where Does Your Money Go"sheet has been prepared and will be shared publicly.
  • Registration details were reviewed including payment plans.  Working with the Town on putting signage around town.
  • Southern boundaries: working with Rich on a boundary extension to cover the Rensselaer area which is currently unchartered. Jeff expressed concern about taking players from Rensselaer's RBI program.  We will make sure we do not do that.
  • Revised Constitution was approved.
  • Fundraising Officer is investigating an event with Sandy Pines.  More to come.
  • Next Board Meeting will be held January 8th at the DeMotte library.
